Franchise history
2012–Present: Wichita Jr. Thunder

The Wichita Jr. Thunder are an Amateur Athletic Union-sanctioned junior ice hockey team based in Wichita, Kansas and plays home games at the Wichita Ice Center. The team is a member of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL).

In addition to games played during the regular season, the Jr. Thunder play an exhibition game against the Wichita Thunder Alumni at the Intrust Bank Arena.

The Jr. Thunder won their first WSHL championship in 2017, defeating Idaho 4-3 in the finals.
