Travis Played Junior hockey for the Bancroft Hawks, Georgetown Raiders and the Port Hope Predators all of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL). Travis also spent time with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Travis began his professional career with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) for the 2006-07 season, playing in 52 regular season games, accumulating 22 Goals, 32 Assists, 54 Points, 146 Penalty Minutes, 12 Powerplay Goals, 14 Powerplay Assists, and 3 Game-Winning Goals.After attending training camp for the 2007-08 season with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League (CHL), Kauffeldt returned to the Havoc and played the entire 2007-08 season with the team. The following season, Kauffeldt played 64 games for the Havoc and two games for the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.
On July 15, 2009, Kauffeldt was signed to the pre-season roster of the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League, for their inaugural 2009-10 season. On October 13, 2009, Kauffeldt was released by the Mavericks after not making the team's 2009-10 regular season roster. After being released by the Mavericks, Kauffeldt returned to the Havoc and spent the entire 2009-10 season with the team. After not playing Ice Hockey the following season, Kauffeldt spent the entire 2011-12 season with the New Jersey Outlaws of the Federal Hockey League.
