The South East Prairie Thunder are a senior ice hockey team based out of Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada and are the current Allan Cup champions, capturing the title at the 2012 Allan Cup in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. This was the Thunder`s fourth straight Allan Cup appearance. The Prairie Thunder play an independent schedule under the jurisdiction of Hockey Manitoba. The team is the only AAA Senior registered team in the province and will advance to face the only AAA Senior registered team in Saskatchewan, the Rosetown Red Wings in the Rathgaber Cup for the right to advance to the 2015 Allan Cup.
The team was founded in 2006. They made their first Allan Cup appearance at the 2009 Allan Cup, which was played at their home arena in Steinbach, but hosted by their rivals, Steinbach North Stars. The Thunder made it to the final, but lost 4-3 in double overtime to the Bentley Generals. In their fourth consecutive Allan Cup appearance in 2012, the Prairie Thunder captured their first national title, with the help of former National Hockey League player Terry Yake.
