2016 to present: Shreveport Mudbugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs were formally announced as an expansion team in the North American 3 Hockey League on April 8, 2016. The team will be based out of the Hirsch Coliseum on the State Fairgrounds in Shreveport, Louisiana. The announcement indicated that the owners signed a 12 year lease with two additional five year options. The coliseum which originally opened in 1954 had recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation to bring the capacity down to about 4,000.
