Sean Simpson (born May 4, 1960) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player. He is currently the head coach for the ZSC Lions. He was the head coach for Team Canada at the 2007 Spengler Cup. As a player, Simpson played two AHL seasons before embarking upon a career playing in Europe.

As a playerEdit

Simpson played major junior briefly for the Kingston Canadians and then for four seasons with the Ottawa 67's. Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 7th round in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, he played a season with the New Brunswick Hawks. He then played the following season for the Springfield Indians, also of the AHL.

Simpson joined Tilburg Trappers in 1983, for whom he played four seasons. In 1988 he joined Rotterdam Panda's. He was the Eredivisie's top scorer in both 1983–4 and 1988–9.

In 1989, he joined Nationalliga A side EHC Olten. He played the following season in Serie A with HC Fiemme Cavalese.

As a coachEdit

Simpson was head coach of DEL side Munich Barons from 1999 through 2002. He then Hamburg Freezers head coach for 2002–3. He then coached EV Zug in the Swiss National League A until 2008 when he became coach of ZSC Lions with whom he won the Champions Hockey League in 2009.
