During World War II, many military teams entered teams in the Canadian senior and junior hockey leagues. The naval detachment at Saskatoon (known as HMCS Unicorn) entered a team in the Saskatchewan Senior League in 1943-44.
They finshed first but lost the league final to the Flin Flon Bombers. Due to a ruling from the Canadian government during the season, military teams were not eligible for the Allan Cup that season in any case.
In addition to the league schedule, the team played six exhibition games:
- November 5 6-1 @ Regina Commandos
- November 6 14-0 @ Moose Jaw Canucks
- November 13 14-0 Moose Jaw Canucks
- November 20 1-4 Calgary Currie Army
- November 27 12-0 Regina Commandos
- December 4 4-4 Red Deer Army Wheelers
