Samantha Agius was selected 57th overall in the 2011 CWHL Draft[1] by the Burlington Barracudas.[2]

Playing careerEdit

Agius has competed at several different levels in her hockey career. Growing up, she played in Midget AA and competed in varsity girls hockey at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute[3], (formerly known as Etobicoke High School) and engaged in hockey for three years (grades 9, 10, and 12 respectively). For three years, she participated in the Greater Toronto Hockey League and competed with three different clubs: York Toros AA, Weston Hawks A, and Humber Valley Sharks A. While with the Humber Valley Sharks A club in the 2005-06 season, Agius went to the West City Finals.

During the 2006-07 season, Agius competed with the Etobicoke Dolphins Bantam AA club, and the club ranked second in the Ontario provincials. In 2007, Agius (at the age of 14) practiced with the Etobicoke Dolphins senior club in the NWHL.

She competed in the Golden Blades Hockey League (with the Toronto Centurians) with fellow Barracudas draft pick Melissa Boufonos.[4] Of her 18 goals scored in the Golden Blades Hockey League, four were game winning goals. In addition, she participated in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League with ASHL Etobicoke in 2010 and 2011. Her best performance during the 2011 season was on June 15, 2011 with one goal and three assists.[5]
