The Salem State Vikings are a Men's Division III team in MASCAC, and a women's team in the New England Hockey Conference representing Salem State University (formerly Salem St. College) in Salem, Massachusetts.

Men's Program History[]

The first club hockey team took to the ice in 1958.  The team was based out of the North Shore Sports Center in Lynn, Massachusetts.  The men's varsity program commenced in 1961.  The team had relocated to the Twin Rinks in Danvers, Massachusetts sometime during the 1960's. In 1976 the team moved to a new rink built on campus, in 1984 the arena was dedicated to Richard H. Rockett and named the Rockett Arena. The school had appeared in two final fours in 1992 and 1994 and won ECAC East Playoffs championships in 1985, 1994, 1995. The team also participated in Frozen Fenway 2014 with a game against the Mass-Boston Beacons on January 7, 2014.

Women's Program History[]

The women's team was elevated to varsity status for the 2015-16 season after commencing play in 2011 as a club team. The team became part of the Colonial Hockey Conference when the league was formed for the 2015-16 season.

On January 26, 2017 it was announced that the women's team would be joining the New England Hockey Conference for the 2018-19 season along with the Johnson and Wales Wildcats and Suffolk Rams men's and women's teams.
