Davis played major junior in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for four seasons with the Owen Sound Platers and Guelph Storm, during which time, he was drafted in the sixth round, 142nd overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. After graduating from junior, he joined St. Mary's University of the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU), where he played for one season.
From that point, Davis turned pro, jumping from minor league to minor league. He spent time in the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL), ECHL and Central Hockey League (CHL). During this time, he also had stints in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA)'s Senior A league before finishing his playing career there.
