Richard S. Hodgson (born May 26, 1956 in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He played 6 games for the Hartford Whalers.

Hodgson spent three years with the junior Calgary Centennials and represented Canada at the 1975 World Junior Championship. He was taken 46th overall by the Atlanta Flames in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft then spent his first three pro seasons with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League.

In June 1979, the Hartford Whalers claimed Hodgson in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. The young rearguard recorded 33 points for the AHL's Springfield Indians then played six regular season games and one playoff match in Hartford before retiring due to injuries.
