1998-Present Ponoka Stampeders

The Ponoka Stampeders are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They play their home games at Ponoka Culture & Recreation Complex.

History Edit

In 1998 the Ponoka Stampeders came back to existence into the Heritage Junior B Hockey League after the past Ponoka Stampeders disbanded from the AJHL in the late 1980s.

Previous Ponoka Stampeders teamsEdit

The Ponoka Stampeders were an intermediate and a junior team.

Intermediate TeamEdit

The Stampeders played in the Central Alberta Hockey League in the 1950's. They won the Alberta Intermediate Championships in 1953, 1954,1955, and 1956. The Stampeders won the Edmonton Journal Trophy (Western Canada Championship) in 1956.


Junior TeamEdit

They played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 1967 to 1971. They then ceased operations for a year before resurfacing as the Drumheller Falcons.
