The Ogden Mustangs are the second Junior A ice hockey team based in Ogden, Utah. The first was the Ogden Blades, who played from 1993-1994 in the American Frontier Hockey League. The team later played in the Western States Hockey League. On April 21, 2020 they were announced as joining them.[2]

History[]

Previously known as the Bakersfield Condors, the team relocated from Bakersfield, California in the summer of 2011, and became the Ogden Mustangs. Spurred by the possibility of planting their roots in a community with both a rich tradition of winter sport involvement and a strong hockey following, the Mustang organization decided Ogden was the place to call home.

Home Ice[]

The Weber County Ice Sheet was one of several host venues for the 2002 Winter Olympics. As a result, many upgrades and amenities have been added, making it a world class facility. With 2,500 stadium style seats, a VIP lounge and a Mustangs locker room and training facility, The Ice Sheet is among one of the best facilities in the WSHL. The Ice Sheet is located in Ogden, Utah, on the campus of Weber State University. It is perched on a hill overlooking the greater Ogden Area, and is located in the same parking lot as the Dee Events Center the venue for Weber State Wildcats men's basketball.

Owners[]

David and Lori Miller originally purchased the Mustangs in 2009. The Miller family has long had a passion for the game of hockey and community involvement, both of which have served them well in their tenure as owners. Prior to purchasing the Mustangs, Lori Miller acted as the Director of Youth Hockey for Kern County Hockey Clubs for nine years. Outside of hockey, the Millers own an oil well welding and a construction company based in California appropriately named DMW Industries Inc.
