Niklas Treutle (born on April 29, 1991 in Nürnberg) is a German professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL and with the Ravensburg Towerstars of the DEL2.

Club career[]

Treutle began playing junior hockey with the EHC 80 Nürnberg organisation. In the 2006-07 season played Treutle with the EHC 80 Nürnberg U18 of the Jugend-BL.

In the following season played Treutle with the Kölner EC U18 of the DNL.

In the 2008-09, Treutle played 7 games with the EHC 80 Nürnberg of the Regionalliga and 1 game with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL.

In the next season played Treutle 1 game with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL and 31 games with the Deggendorf Fire of the Oberliga.

In the 2010-11 season played Treutle 10 games with the Hamburg Freezers of the DEL and 10 regular season games and 2 relegation games on loan with the Eispiraten Crimmitschau of the 1. Eishockey-Liga.

Treutle then spent next two season with the Hamburg Freezers of the DEL.

He also began the 2013-14 season with the Hamburg Freezers of the DEL but after 11 games played, he moved to the EHC München of the DEL. He played there 8 games in this season. He was also loaned to the SC Riessersee of the DEL2 where he played 6 games in this season.

In the 2014-15 season played Treutle 30 games with the EHC München of the DEL and 3 games on loan with the SC Riessersee of the DEL2. In this season, Treutle had the best goals against average (2.06) in the DEL.

In 2015, Treutle moved to North America to try his luck in the NHL. He played 2 games with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL and 39 games with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. After this season, Treutle returned to Europe.

Treutle began the 2016-17 season with the KooKoo of the Liiga but he played there only 4 games before he moved to the Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL for the remainder of the season. He played there 23 games.

Since 2017 is Treutle playing with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL. In the 2017-18 season, he had the best goals against average (1.89) and save percentage (.944) in the DEL. In the 2020-21 season, he also played 6 games on loan with the Ravensburg Towerstars of the DEL2 besides his 32 games played with the Nurnberg Ice Tigers. He is currently signed with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL until the end of the 2020-21 season.

International career[]

Treutle played with the German National Team at the 2011 World Junior Championship and at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships.
