The 2015 NWHL Draft took place on June 22, 2015. A draft lottery was held and the New York Riveters earned the first pick overall.

The New York Riveters are a professional ice hockey team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Riveters played their home games at Aviator Sports and Events in Brooklyn, NY for the 2015-16 season.

They are one of the four charter franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (2015) (NWHL). The Riveters are one of two NWHL franchises in New York State along with the Buffalo Beauts.


The first player signed to a contract was Janine Weber, who also became the first player in the history of the NWHL to be signed to a contract.[1]

The team made its debut in 2015.

The team relocated its games to Newark, New Jersey prior to the 2016-17 season.

The team was renamed the Metropolitan Riveters prior to the 2017-18 season.

A draft lottery was held for the 2015 NWHL Draft, taking place on June 20, 2015. and the New York Riveters earned the first pick overall.[2] With the first pick in the 2015 NWHL Draft, the New York Riveters selected Alexandra Carpenter.
