The Michigan Nationals were a junior hockey team that played in the North American Hockey League from 1991 to 1994. The team was bases out of the Canfield Ice Arena. The team was renamed to the Dearborn Heights Nationals in 1994.
The team was originally founded as the Dearborn Magic for the 1990-91 season.
The team relocated to nearby Dearborn Heights, Michigan and were renamed the Michigan Nationals. The team was renamed the Dearborn Heights Nationals for the 1994-95 season. The team would stay there until 1996 when the team relocated and became the St. Louis Sting. The team then moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2001 where they became the Springfield Spirit. In 2005 the team would relocate again to Wasilla, Alaska where they became the Wasilla Spirit.
For 2006 the team was then renamed the Alaska Avalanche when the team started playing games in several arenas through out the area. The team would then relocate to Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 2012 where they would replace the former ECHL franchise in that city. They were named the Johnstown Tomahawks upon arrival.
