Mattias Tedenby (born on February 21, 1990, in Vetlanda) is a Swedish professional ice hockey left winger, currently with the Vityaz Podolsk of the KHL. He was selected in the 1st round, 24th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Club career[]

Tedenby started his junior career with the HV71 organisation, playing for the under-18 team in 2005-06 and both under-18 and under-20 teams in 2006-07 and 2007-08. During the 2007-08 season, he was called up to the HV71 of the Elitserien and played in 23 regular season games scoring six points and in 5 play-off games ending scoreless. He still helped the team become the Elitserien champion while he was the under-eighteener with the most points scored in the Elitserien.

During the off-season in 2008 he was contracted for one year by HV71. After playing in 10 games, including one CHL game, with HV71, Tedenby was loaned to IK Oskarshamn of the HockeyAllsvenskan. After 13 games, totalling 11 points, he was recalled to join HV71 again. He finished the season with the 32 regular season games and 18 play-off games with the HV71.

Tedenby continued with the HV71 of the Elitserien during the 2009-10 season. He was one of 4 nominees for the Elitserien Rookie of the Year while he scored most goals by junior (12) in the whole Elitserien and helped his team win the Elitserien once again.

After that season, Tedenby tried his luck in North America signing with the New Jersey Devils organisation. He played 58 games scoring 22 points with the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and 12 games scoring 5 points with the Albany Devils of the AHL during the 2010-11 season.

Unfortunately, Tedenby began struggling and in the next season played 43 games with the New Jersey Devils scoring only 6 points and playing 35 games with the Albany Devils scoring 20 points.

During the 2012-13 season, Tedenby played only 4 games with the New Jersey Devils scoring 1 point and played 7 games scoring 19 points with the Albayn Devils.

In the 2013-14 season played Tedenby 15 games with the New Jersey Devils recording only 1 point and also played 42 regular season games plus 4 play-off games with the Albany Devils recording 22 points in the regular season and 2 points in the play-offs.

In 2014 - 2019 was Tedenby successfully playing with his old club HV71 of the SHL (formerly Elitserien). In 2017, he helped the team to become the SHL champion.

In 2019 signed Tedenby with the HC Davos of the NL.

In 2020, Tedenby signed a one-year contract with the Vityaz Podolsk of the KHL.

International career[]

Tedenby played with the Swedish National Team at the 2007 and 2008 World U18 Championships (winning the bronze medal at the 2007 tournament and being selected into the All-Star Team at the 2008 tournament), 2007 Hlinka Memorial Cup (winning the gold medal), 2009 and 2010 World Junior Championships (winning the silver medal in 2009 and the bronze medal in 2010) and at the 2011 World Championship (winning the silver medal).
