The first ever outdoor game to involve an official NHL team was played February 2, 1954 at the Marquette Branch Prison in Marquette, Michigan.  The Detroit Red Wings played a team made up of inmates at the prision.  The score of the game was 18-0 after the first period and then the score was no longer kept.  For more information on the game and why it was played click on the link below  under sources to
