Mark Pederson (born January 14, 1968) is a retired Canadian professional left winger who played five seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings from 1989–90 until 1993–94. He is currently the Assistant Coach of the Bakersfield Condors minor league ice hockey team.
He had a very successful junior career with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 1985 to 1988. He helped the Tigers win back-to-back Memorial Cups in 1987 & 1988. He also played on Canada's team as it won the 1988 World Junior Hockey Championship.
[edit] Playing career
Pederson was drafted 15th overall by the Canadiens in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Once he graduated from the Tigers, he was sent to the Sherbrooke Canadiens of the American Hockey League where he scored 81 points in 1988-89.
Unfortunately he never really made it in the NHL. He played 169 career NHL games, scoring 35 goals and 50 assists for 85 points with the Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, san Jose Sharks, and Detroit Red Wings. In 1993 his NHL career was over and in 1995 he left for Europe. There Pederson played in nine seasons for various teams in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
He returned to North America in 2002 to play three seasons for the San Diego Gulls.
