The league was renamed the Manitoba Senior Hockey League for the 2012-13 season when the league redrew the league's boundary; which was Highway 231, which is located near Gimli. This lead to a team from St. Laurent joining the new league. The league boundary left the Fisher River Terriers team out of the league as they were located well north of the Highway 231 boundary. St. Laurent previously had senior teams but they town lacked an rink with an artificial ice surface, which had lead to problems in the past with games not being able to be played.
