Ken Leiter (born April 19, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played 143 games in the National Hockey League for the New York Islanders and Minnesota North Stars.

He played for Michigan State University from 1979 to 1983. The New York Islanders chose him 101st overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He turned pro with the Indianapolis Checkers in 1983-84 and made the Islanders as a regular in 1986-87. Injuries forced him to sit out the 1988-89 season. An attempted comeback with the Minnesota North Stars in 1989-90 was short-lived and he retired in 1989.

In his NHL career he played in 143 games and scored 14 goals and 36 assists.
