Juho Olkinuora (born on November 4, 1990 in Helsinki) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.

Club career[]

Olkinuora began playing junior hockey with the Tappara organisation. In the 2007-08 season, Olkinuora played with the Chadder's 18U AAA. Next two seasons, Olkinuora played junior hockey with the HIFK organisation.

Olkinuora again moved to North America for the 2010-11 season which he spent with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL.

In the 2011-12 season, Olkinuora played with the Univ. of Denver of the NCAA. In this season, he was selected into the NCAA (WCHA) All-Rookie Team.

Olkinuora continued with the Univ. of Denver of the NCAA in the 2012-13 season. He played there another 24 games. After the completion of the season with the Univ. of Denver, he was signed by the Winnipeg Jets organisation on April 8, 2013 and played one game with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL in the 2012-13 season. In this season, Olkinuora was selected into the NCAA (WCHA) All-Academic Team, NCAA (WCHA) Second All-Star Team and NCAA (WCHA) Second All-American Team.

In the 2013-14 season, Olkinuora played 10 games with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL and 27 regular season games and 2 play-off games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL.

In the next season played Olkinuora 4 games with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL and 43 regular season games and 12 play-off games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL. In this season, he became ECHL Goaltender of the Week on April 6 - April 12, 2015.

In the 2015-16 season, he played 6 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL and 26 games with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL. In this season, Olkinuora was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week on April 4 - April 9, 2016.

In 2016, Olkinuora returned to Europe and began the 2016-17 season with the SaiPa of the Liiga. He played there 10 games before he moved to the JYP of the Liiga where he finished the season with 16 regular season games and 13 play-off games played. In this season, he also played 1 game with the JYP-Akatemia of the Mestis.

Olkinuora then continued with the JYP of the Liiga in the 2017-18 season. In this season, he became the CHL champion.

In the 2018-19 season, Olkinuora played with the Pelicans of the Liiga.

Olkinuora then left Finland to sign a one-year contract with the Admiral Vladivostok of the KHL, on May 15, 2019.[1] In the following 2019-20 season, Olkinuora was leaned on as Admiral Vladivostok's starting goaltender, posting a .929 save percentage in 31 games.

On June 17, 2020, with Admiral Vladivostok going on a season hiatus, Olkinuora was signed as a free agent on a two-year contract with fellow KHL club, the Metallurg Magnitogorsk.[2]

International career[]

Olkinuora played with the Finnish National Team at the 2019 World Championship, appearing in relief in 1 game as Finland captured the gold medal at the tournament.[3]
