Jori Lehterä (born on December 23, 1987 in Espoo) is a Finnish professional ice hockey center. He is currently playing with the Spartak Moskva of the KHL. He was selected 65th overall by the St. Louis Blues at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

His uncle is Tero Lehterä, a member of Finland's 1995 Ice Hockey World Championships gold medal team.

Club career[]

Lehterä played the junior hockey for the Jokerit organisation. He made his senior debut in the 2005-06 season playing 2 games with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.

Dominating the Jokerit junior team in scoring, he earned himself a place on the Jokerit SM-liiga roster in the fall of 2006. In the 2006-07 season, he played 24 regular season games plus 5 play-off games with the junior team of the Jokerit, 28 games with the Jokerit of the SM-liiga and 10 games on loan for the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.

In April 2007, he signed a three-year contract with Tappara[1]. Lehterä left his homeland Finland and his club Tappara on March 16, 2009 and signed with the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL[2], the St. Louis Blues' farm team. For the 2009-10 season, he returned to play for Tappara. He won the Lasse Oksanen Award for the best player of the regular season [3] and the Veli-Pekka Ketola Trophy for the player who scored most points throughout the season. He scored 19 goals and 50 assists.

In 2010, Lehterä became a player of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL and spent there one season. Then he continued playing in the KHL for the Sibir Novosibirsk. He stayed there for three seasons.

In 2014, he signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues of the NHL and played there three seasons. Then he began the 2017-18 season with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and played there for two seasons. In the 2018-19 season, he only played 27 games for the Flyers and 5 games for their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

In 2019, Lehterä moved back to Europe to spent the 2019-20 season with the SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.

After one season with the SKA St. Petersburg, Lehterä signed a one-year contract with the Spartak Moskva of the KHL.

International career[]

Lehterä was selected to represent Finland at the 2006 World Junior Championship in Sweden[4], but could not play due to an injury.

He played as a member of the Finnish National Team at the 2010 and 2014 World Championships (winning the silver medal in 2014), at the 2014 Olympics winning the bronze medal and at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
