Joonas Nättinen (born on January 3, 1991 in Jämsä) is a Finnish professional ice hockey center/right winger currently playing with the Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL. He was selected 65th overall by the Montréal Canadiens in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Club career[]
Nättinen began playing junior hockey with the JYP organisation. In 2008, he transfered to the Blues organisation. In the 2008-09 season, his first with the Blues, he made also his senior debut playing 14 games with the Blues of the SM-liiga and 5 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis. He also played 30 regular season games plus 10 play-off games with the junior team of the Blues.
In the 2009-10 season, Nättinen played mostly with the Blues of the SM-liiga, to be specific, 23 regular season games and 1 play-off game. He also played 11 games with the Blues junior team, 7 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis and 10 games on loan with the Hokki of the Mestis.
The 2010-11 season was Nättinen's last junior season. He played only 2 games with the Blues junior team. He played 11 games with the Blues of the SM-liiga, 2 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis and 10 regular season games plus one play-off game on loan with the HPK of the SM-liiga.
In 2011, Nättinen moved to North America to try his luck in the NHL. He spent three season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL only to play one NHL game with the Montréal Canadiens of the NHL in the 2013-14 season.
In 2014, Nättinen returned back to Europe and signed with the MODO Hockey of the SHL. After one season with the MODO Hockey, he signed with his youthteam JYP of the Liiga (formerly SM-liiga) and stayed there until the end of the 2017-18 season in which the JYP won the CHL.
Since 2018, Nättinen is playing in the KHL. He spent the 2018-19 season with the Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and the 2019-20 season with the Vityaz Podolsk. In the 2020-21 season, he is playing with the Severstal Cherepovets.
International career[]
Nättinen played for the Finnish National Team at the 2008 World U17 Hockey Challenge, 2008 and 2009 World U18 Championship (winning the bronze medal in 2009) and at the 2009, 2010 and 2011 World Junior Championships.
