John de Gray (born March 14, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Playing career[]

de Gray played major junior for four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Brampton Battalion, where he served as a team captain.[1] He was drafted in the third round, 83rd overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft following a 10-point season with the Battalion. Following his fourth and final OHL season in 2007–08, de Gray was assigned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL, the Ducks' minor league affiliate, for the final six games of the regular season as well as the post-season.

On April 30, 2008, de Gray was then signed by the Ducks to a three-year entry level contract.[2] In 2008–09, de Gray was assigned to the Iowa Chops, AHL affiliate of the Ducks.

Following the 2010-11 season, de Gray became an unrestricted free agent when he did not receive a qualifying offer from the Anaheim Ducks organization.[3]
