He played junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes from 2006 to 2010. The Montreal Canadiens chose him 116th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft but did not offer him a contract in the two year period.
The Columbus Blue Jackets invited him to their 2010 training camp but he was cut and sent back to the Petes. However. Peterborough was going with younger goaltenders and they released Missiaen. He then signed with the Drakkar for the 2010-11 season.
Missiaen joined the Greenville Road Warriors in the 2011-12 season.
