Jana Persky is an ice hockey player from New Canaan High. She was featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of Sports Illustrated on February 7, 2011.

Playing career

In her senior season (2010-11), the star of the New Canaan girls team scored two goals and two assists in a 6-1 victory of Guilford.[1] A week earlier, she had a hat trick and an assist in three straight games. In an 8-2 win over Wilton, she scored two goals 16 seconds apart. In a 9-1 win against Staples, Jana notched a goal and an assist. As of 2/26/11, she had 216 career points. With Jana being one of the leading scorers on her team, the squad played in their 7th consecutive Fairfield County Athletic Conference (FCIAC) final on 2/26/11 against rival Darien. With a hat trick, she led the team to second consecutive state championship on 3/5/11. “The key for the game was Jana’s goal with 20 seconds left in the second,” [New Canaan Coach Rich] Bulan said. “That made it 6-2 and now it was a tough score to come back from.”[2] She is the fourth leading career scorer in New Canaan High School girls' ice hockey history. In addition, she was appointed captain at New Canaan High for 3 seasons. Jana will be attending Stanford University in 2012-13, after taking a gap year to travel.
