Piecko began his career with his home club, Baildon Katowice. From 1974 to 1976 inclusively, Piecko was Polish vice-champion with Katowice. In 1981, Piecko moved to Polonia Bytom. He spent his most successful moments in Poland with two other vice-champion titles (1983 and 1985), one Polish championship (1984) and, for that year, the title of best goal scorer. His career in Poland saw him take part in 460 games; he scored 367 times in total, good enough for the sixth best all-time performance in the league's history.
Piecko joined EV Ravensburg in Germany's in 1989 after emigrating to the country. His loyalty and self-sacrifice for the team, as well as his skills, earned him to have his number 22 retired by the Upper Swabian team in 2001.
