Jamie Russell (born August 31, 1966 in Kamloops, British Columbia) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He has since served as a coach and adminsistrator.

Children[]

He is father to Ben Russell, who as of the 2023-24 season is director of hockey perations for the Cornell Big Red men's ice hockey team and Charlies Russell, who as of the 2023-24 season is playing for the Clarkson Golden Knights men's ice hockey team.

Playing Career[]

He would attend Michigan Technological University playing on the Michigan Tech Huskies men's ice hockey team during the 1987-88 and 1988-89 seasons. He would then have a brief professional career playing with the Binghamton Whalers of the American Hockey League and the Winston-Salem Thunderbirds of the ECHL during the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons.

Coaching Career[]

He would serve as an assistant coach with the Ferris State Bulldogs men's ice hockey team from 1994-95 to 1998-99. He would be an assistant coach with the Cornell Big Red men's ice hockey team from 1999-00 to 2002-03 before becoming head coach of the Michigan Tech Huskies men's ice hockey team which he would be from 2003-04 to 2010-11 compiling a 70–197–37 record. Hew would then serve as an assistant coach with the Providence Friars men's ice hockey team for the 2011-12 to 2013-14 seasons. He would become head coach and director of operations for the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. He would then be named the inaugural General Manager and head coach of the Worcester Railers when the team was announced in the spring of 2016, serving in thos roles for the 2016-17 to November 27, 2019 when he was replaced by David Cunniff. He would then work for the South Kent School as head coach and and later director of hockey operations for the various AAA teams at the school.
