Jamie Oleksiak (born December 21, 1992) is a Canadian-American ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for the Saginaw Spirit team which competes in Ontario Hockey League.

He was selected 14th overall in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, the highest draft choice in Northeastern University's history. On July 25, 2011 the Saginaw Spirit announced that they had signed Oleksiak to an Ontario Hockey League contract.[1]

International playEdit

Oleksiak, who holds dual Canadian/United States citizenship, represented the United States in the 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament,[2] but has now decided he will represent Canada internationally.[3]

PersonalEdit

Oleksiak attended school with both Dougie and Freddie Hamilton, as well as Jake Sandler at Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario before moving to the United States to pursue his career in hockey.
