[edit] History

Hungary earned promotion to the elite level in 2008 following their win in the 2008 DI World Championship. For the Hungarians, the 2009 World Championship will be their first participation at the elite level in 70 years; they had been relegated from the elite group following the 1939 World Championship and hadn't been back up since.
