Herbmitchell

Herbert Alexander "Hap" Mitchell (born January 4, 1895 in Meaford, Ontario - died January 12, 1969) was a professional ice hockey left winger who played 44 games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins.

He played with the senior Hamilton Tigers from 1918 to 1924, winning the Allan Cup in 1919. In 1924 he became the first player to sign a contract with the expansion Boston Bruins. Mitchell played two seasons for the Bruins, playing in 44 games and scoring 6 goals.

In 1926-27 he was the player-coach of the New Haven Eagles. Mitchell played in 1927-28 with the Windsor Hornets and then retired.

Mitchell was the coach of the Windsor Bulldogs in 1928-29, 1930–31, and 1932-33. He made a comeback with the London Tecumsehs in 1933-34. He was the coach of the Hershey Bears from 1934 to 1941. In 1941-42 Mitchell coached the St. Paul Saints and later coached the Baltimore Blades in 1945-46.
