Founded in 1936, the Racers played alongside the Harringay Greyhounds for a while at the Harringay Arena as rivals in the English National League. The Racers won the ENL title in the 1937-38 season. The league paused its activities for the World War II; it resumed when the fire ceased, allowing the Racers to be champion once again in 1948-49. Following this championship, the Racers and the Greyhounds merged together.
In 1954, the ENL and the Scottish National League merged together, resulting into the British National League. The Racers won the inaugural championship of the league, but withdrew in 1958 to never come back again.
