Gary Wood (born September 28, 1946 in Fort Frances, Ontario) is a retired American defenceman. Despite the fact that he was born in Canada, he took out American citizenship since his parents were American.

He played junior hockey in Fort Frances and was chosen 12th overall by the Oakland Seals in the 1967 NHL Amateur Draft. Wood turned pro in 1967-68 with the Dayton Gems of the International Hockey League. He then served in the American Army until 1970.

On his return Wood played for the Johnstown Jets of the Eastern Hockey League. Wood played in the minors, most notably for the Charlotte Checkers of the Southern Hockey League, until his retirement in 1977.
