Tom Linton Anderson (July 9, 1911–1971) was a Canadian professional defenceman who played 8 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings, New York/Brooklyn Americans. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Playing Career[]

Tommy played in the National Hockey League from 1934 to 1942. During this time, he played for the Detroit Red Wings and New York Americans. Tommy won the 1942 Hart Memorial Trophy for being the most valuable player.

After 1942 the Americans disbanded and Anderson played senior hockey in Canada during World War II. After the war Anderson played a season with the Providence Reds and then one with the Hollywood Wolves before retiring.

Coaching Career[]

After retiring Anderson became coach of the junior Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey Association for three years. He then became the coach of the American Hockey League's Pittsburgh Hornets.
