Thomas Laidlaw (born April 15, 1958 in Brampton, Ontario) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman. Laidlaw started his National Hockey League career with the New York Rangers in 1980. He also played for the Los Angeles Kings.

Laidlaw played for Northern Michigan University from 1976 to 1980 and was chosen 93rd overall by the New York Rangers in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. After graduating in 1980 Laidlaw stepped right on to the Rangers' roster and remained there for almst seven years. He was a steady defensive defenceman.

In 1987 Laidlaw was traded to the Los Angeles Kings as part of the Marcel Dionne trade. He played for the Kings through the 1989-90 season and then played four games for the Phoenix Roadrunners (IHL) in 1990-91 before retiring.

In the NHL Laidlaw played in 705 regular season games and scored 25 goals and 139 assists. In the playoffs he played in 69 games and scored 4 goals and 17 assists.
