Norm Barnes (born August 24, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 5 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Philadelphia Flyers and Hartford Whalers.

The Flyers had been watching Barnes since before 1973 when they drafted him after his second year at Michigan State University. Three years later, they got him into a single game and it was another three years before he was recalled a second time.

By this time, the Flyers had almost given up on Barnes, but he had a strong camp in 1979. He became the team's steadiest defenceman during its record-setting 35-game winning streak and played in the all-star game that year. The following year he was sent to Hartford, and after two partial years with the Whalers he retired.
