Melissa Boufounos is a former women's ice hockey player for the Etobicoke Dolphins. She was selected 52nd overall[1] by the Burlington Barracudas in the 2011 CWHL Draft. [2]

Playing career[]

Prior to the CWHL Draft, Boufounos competed for the York Buds Senior B team in the Golden Blades Women’s Hockey League in the Greater Toronto Area.[3]. While she competed in the Golden Blades, fellow Barracudas draft pick Samantha Agius also competed in the league.[4]

In 2012, Boufounos started participating in the Ottawa Vanier Women's Ball Hockey League

Personal[]

Boufounos studied broadcast journalism at Seneca College and sports Journalism at Centennial College. She has interned for /A\ News Barrie, 680 News and Rogers Sportsnet in Toronto. During the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Boufounos wrote about the Canadian women's ice hockey team for the Toronto Observer.[6]

On October 28, 2011, she was selected as the Montreal Canadiens Social Media Fan of the Day.[7] During the 2011-12 CWHL season, Boufounos engaged in media relations and social media work for the Brampton Thunder.
