The Langley Rivermen are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Coastal Conference of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They played their home games at Langley Events Center until Western Hockey League Vancouver Giants announced they were relocating to the LEC. The Rivermen will call the George Preston Arena home starting with the 2016-17 season.

History

The Chilliwack Chiefs were founded in 1990 when they bought the franchise rights of the Richmond Sockeyes. The Sockeyes were in the process of returning to Jr. B. Prior to this, Chilliwack had entertained previous teams like the Chilliwack Bruins from 1970 until 1976 who moved to Maple Ridge, British Columbia and then Revelstoke, British Columbia before merging with the Kamloops Rockets franchise, the Chilliwack Colts from 1978 until 1981 who seem to have become the Langley Eagles and later the Chilliwack Eagles from 1987 until 1989 - who became the Ladner Penguins, later the Bellingham Blazers, and then were bought out by the Trail Smoke Eaters.

In 2006, the Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League were founded and the Chiefs moved to become the Langley Chiefs.

In 2011, the Chiefs became the Langley Rivermen to make room for the Quesnel Millionaires to move to Chilliwack and the town get its junior hockey name back.
