Kirsti Hakala was an ice hockey player for the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women’s ice hockey team.
Playing career[]
The 2006-2007 season saw Hakala and the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Championship game, where the Bulldogs were defeated by WCHA rival Wisconsin Badgers. During the 2009-2010 season, Hakala and her Bulldogs won the NCAA National Championship game against Cornell in triple overtime.
Hakala went on to play for the ZSC Lions Frauen in Switzerland within the SWHL A League. During the 2015-2016 season, Hakala and the Lions won the Swiss National title.
Personal[]
Hakala and her Bulldogs teammates were part of a group of NCAA sporting champions that visited the White House in Washington, D.C. and listended to United States president Barack Obama congratulate them on their victory.[1]
