John Alan Lynch (born May 28, 1952 in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman. Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins 24th overall in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft, Lynch also played for the Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals.

He played junior hockey for the Oshawa Generals and debuted with the Penguins in 1972-73. The next year he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. That stay only lasted about a year when he was traded to the expansion Washington Capitals in the 1974-75 season.

Lynch played for the Capitals into the 1978-79 season. A knee injury in 1977 finally caught up to him in 1979. He was sent down to the Hershey Bears and retired at the end of the season.
