Playing career[]
In high school, she was her school’s 2006 Rookie of the year and its most valuable player in 2008 and 2009. During the 2009 PWHL playoffs, she was the leading scorer. Mercer competed for the Bluewater Jr. Hawks in 2009-10 and was also captain of the team. In addition, she was one of the top five scorers in the PWHL during 2009-10.
NCAA[]
Mercer joined the Clarkson Golden Knights in 2010. She was also recruited by the University of New Hampshire, Rensselaer, Vermont, Colgate and Ohio State. In the 2011-12 season, Carly Mercer became just the fourth player in Golden Knights'(Women) history to reach 40 points in a season with 14 goals and 26 assists. She joins Class of 2010 Britney Selina (44 in 2007-08), Class of 2009 Marie-Jo Gaudet (40 in 2008-09), and Class of 2010 Dominique Thibault (40 in 2009-10) in that category. [1]
Hockey Canada[]
She was a member of the Gold-Medal winning 2008 and 2009 Team Ontario Red at the Under-18 Nationals. In 2009, she was part of the Canadian Women’s Under-18 Team which participated in a three game series vs. Team USA. In April 2010, Mercer was part of the Canadian Under 18 squad that captured gold at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. As a member of the gold medal winning squad, a hockey card of her was featured in the Upper Deck 2010 World of Sports card series.[2]

Personal[]
Her younger sister Cayley Mercer participated for Team Ontario at the 2011 Canada Winter Games (women's) tournament and for Canada in numerous international tournaments and will be a freshman at Clarkson University in the fall of 2012.[4]
