Brienna Antoinette Gillanders (born on May 4, 1992 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan) is a women’s ice hockey player for the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs of the WCHA.

Playing career[]

Gillanders participated in the second annual Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League All-Star Game (played February 18, 2008 in Davidson, Sask) and the third annual game also. In both events, Gillanders played for Team North. The third annual was played in Lampman, Saskatchewan (contested on Saturday, January 17th, 2009). In the third annual game, Gillanders scored a goal. [1] Gillanders played for the Swift Current Wildcats from 2007-2009, and was named to both the SFMAAAHL All-Star Team and the Midget Mac's All-Star Team in 2008. At the 2008 and 2009 National Under 18 tournament, Gillanders represented Team Saskatchewan. She played in 2009-10 for the Notre Dame Hounds. With the Hounds, Gillanders won the league and regional championships. The Hounds participated at the 2010 Nationals (Esso Championships) and won the silver medal. During the 2009-10 season, she led the SFMAAAHL in scoring.


NCAA[]

Gillanders joined the University of Minnesota Duluth for the 2010-11 season. On November 6, 2010, Gillanders scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Bulldogs beat Bemidji State 3-1. She drew an assist on Audrey Cournoyer’s first goal of the game on a power-play at 0:23 of the second period. At 10:07 of the second, Gillanders scored the game winning goal. For her efforts, she was recognized as the WCHA Rookie of the Week and became the first Bulldog to win a WCHA honor for the season for UMD Wednesday.[2]

Gillanders attended the Team Canada Stength and Conditioning and evaluation camps from 2007 to 2009.
