The Breckenridge Bears were a USA Hockey-sanctioned ice hockey team from Breckenridge, Colorado The team was scheduled to commence play with the 2016-17 season. They were to play in the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League. They were to be based out of the Stephen C West Ice Arena. The team was added to the league shortly after the Breckenridge Bucks left the league for the Western States Hockey League, the two teams were share the Stephen C West Ice Arena. The Bucks would later relocate to Vail, Colorado and be renamed the Vail Powder Hounds and that team was also quietly removed from their league in Mid-November 2016.
The team was quietly removed from the league schedule late in September after the league had attempted to save the team by pushing their first two weeks games back to later in the season. The head coach had quit after claiming he was not getting paid. The owner was unable to replace the coach as he was tied up coaching an other team in the league that he owned.
