This is the 1955-56 Montreal Junior Canadiens season.

The team had played in the Quebec Junior Hockey League last season. The league, down to three teams, then folded.

The Montreal Canadiens, parent team of the Juniors, decided to keep the Juniors going as an independent team. It would play exhibitions all season and then enter the 1955-56 Eastern Canada Memorial Cup Playoffs.

The Junior Canadiens played in a total of 92 games, winning 74, losing 10, and tying 8. They played all over Eastern Canada from Kapuskasing to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Their opponents included senior, intermediate, junior, and university teams.

They played in (and won) the Laurier Cup series against the Junior A teams of the Ontario Hockey Association.

The Juniors started playing their home games @ Montreal but competition from the Canadiens and the minor-league Montreal Royals, among others, kept their attendance low. Good crowds at games in Ottawa encouraged the Juniors to play more and more there. The team moved to Ottawa permanently the next season.

The Junior Canadiens entered the 1955-56 Eastern Canada Memorial Cup Playoffs where they lost the final to the Toronto Marlboros.
