This is the 1950-51 Ontario Hockey Association Major season:
History[]
This was the first year that the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association had this level. It was an open classification, which allowed amateurs and pros to play. Previously, only amateurs could play in CAHA leagues. There were also Major leagues in Western Canada, Quebec, and the Maritimes. The winners of these leagues played in national playoffs for the Alexander Cup.
The Major level was a failure in the OHA. Poor attendance and high costs doomed this experiment. The OHA abandoned this level after this season, as did Western Canada. Only Quebec and the Maritimes kept it after this season.
