The teams from the Southern Alberta Junior League combined with the Moose Jaw Canucks and the Regina Pats from Saskatchewan to form the Western Canada Junior League.

Calgary & Lethbridge played a playoff series which was both the Western League's semi final and the Alberta provincial semi final.

After Lethbridge lost to Calgary it played Drumheller Valley in a qualifying series. Had Drumheller won, it would have gone on to play Calgary in the provincial playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Edmonton league winner played off against the Wetaskiwin Canadians. This team had been refused entry into that league. The Canadians instead played in an intermediate league.

Complicated? Contemporary newspaper reporters thought so!
