The University of Toronto had designated its team in the Ontario Hockey Association as the one eligible for the Allan Cup playoffs. This was according to CAHA rules, which held that institutions could only designate one team. That is why the Toronto team did not advance to the 1923-24 Eastern Canada Allan Cup Playoffs which it would otherwise have been able to.
