Fernheadley

Fern James Headley (born March 2, 1901 in Crystal, North Dakota) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenceman who played 27 games in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins.

He started out playing senior hockey in Saskatoon from 1919 to 1922. He then turned pro with the Saskatoon Sheiks of the Western Canada Hockey League in 1922-23 and 1923-24. In 1924 he was signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins but was soon loaned to the Montreal Canadiens. His last big league season was 1925-26 with the Calgary Tigers.

After that season Headley played in the minor pros. Starting in 1927-28, he played in the American Hockey Association until his retirement in 1939. He won the league championships in 1928 and 1932.

He was a player-coach of the Wichita Skyhawks in 1938-39.
