Earl Robinson

Henry Earle Robinson (March 11, 1907 in Montreal, Quebec  – September 8, 1986) was a Canadian ice hockey forward.

Robinson started his National Hockey League career with the Montreal Maroons in 1928. He also played for the Chicago Black Hawks and Montreal Canadiens and retired after the 1940 season. In 1939, he was a member of the NHL All-Star Team. He also won a Stanley Cup with the Maroons in 1935.

He played for the Montreal Junior Royals in 1925-26 and then joined the senior Montreal Victorias in 1926-27. He went on their European tour.

Robinson turned pro in 1927-28 with the Philadelphia Arrows and scored 18 goals, This got the Montreal Maroons to sign him up. For three seasons he was a part-time player with the Maroons, always seeing some action with the Windsor Bulldogs. In 1932-33 he became a full-time Maroon. Robinson played the next six seasons for the club, which turned out to be the Maroons' last. He was a steady offensive performer with a high of 17 goals in the Stanley Cup winning season of 1934-35.

When the Maroons folded in 1938 Robinson was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks but his career was already on a downslide. The next season he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens but only played 11 games with the Habs. Robinson spent 1939-40, 1940–41 and 1941-42 as a player-coach for the New Haven Eagles.

He then moved to Ontario senior hockey with the Toronto Research Colonels in 1942-43 and the Toronto Army Daggers in 1943-44. He retired in 1944.

In the NHL Robinson scored 83 goals and 98 assists in 417 regular season games. He also scored 5 goals and 4 assists in 25 playoff games.
