Dinamo Riga is a professional team based in Riga, Latvia, that plays in the Kontinental Hockey League. The team was founded in 2008 as one of the 24 founding members of the KHL and plays its home games at the Arena Riga.

HistoryEdit

The team was founded in 2008 to participate in the KHL. On September 2 2008, the team takes part in the league's inaugural game. Aleksandrs Ņiživijs scores the team's and the league's inaugural goal, and Riga defeats the Amur Tigers Khabarovsk 4-2.

Initially, HK Riga 2000 had been choosen as the team's farm team. The team held that role for the 2008-09 KHL season; they were replaced by Dinamo-Juniors Riga, purposedly created in 2009 to fill this role.
